Oct 18, 2017. Event and I'm happy to see so many mod authors have been sharing their content. In Week 3 (20th - 26th April) we had 259 entries from 230 authors across 48 games. Overall we saw 1301 mods shared in total, which is the highest since we started this event.   8. MBG Killhouses, for all your CQC Training and MOUT Town Needs. Will probably train with you in this to get you up to our speed on CQC and MOUT [armaholic.com]

A Blast to the past, literally

The 5th Guards Cavalry was formed in 2018 by some of the founders of the Paradox Interactive games community 'Official Border Gore'. OBG was formed by people who met each other through the realism communities of RO1, Darkest Hour ‘44-'45 and ArmA 2, and who then started playing Paradox Games together like the Hearts of Iron and Europa Universalis games. This history led to some members of the OBG community starting to get into ArmA 3 realism units, specifically the famous 23rd Panzer Division. This relit the passion we had for realism units eventually leading to us forming our own unit focused on the values we hold dear. This realism unit is taking us back to our root, allowing others to meet in the same way we did back in the early 2010's.

Why the 5th Guards Cavalry Division?

At the time of our forming, the WW2 ArmA 3 community had little to no Soviet realism units. We felt that both the Axis and Allied communities were over saturated with low effort units that disbanded and changed names frequently, with several larger ones maintaining the community as a whole. Soviet units are a hard thing to portray correctly, but with knowledge in both the Russian language and history we had the right tools for the job. This came in tandem with the release of the anticipated horse mod for ArmA 3, which naturally led to us looking into being the first to apply these into the realism community. What started as a small side project during the summer quickly turned larger in scale with more people showing interest and in late 2018 we could open the doors to what is likely the most accurate WW2 Russian experience you could get in ArmA 3.

Back to the Future

Our long term goal for this unit is again, to create a community that doesn't just play ArmA 3 every weekend, but also plays other games we like. Together. We don't want to grow huge, we want to form a tightly knit community that is large enough to take on the larger units in PvP's and Campaigns be on an even level. We also look to inspire others to form accurate Soviet units, using the knowledge and tactics we have gathered.
